Founded in 2014, Roots & Tips has spent the last decade evolving beyond the traditional salon model into something more intentional.
Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, Roots & Tips is a curated beauty collective - a space where independent artists, culture, and craftsmanship intersect. What began as a desire to create something different has grown into a platform for creativity, entrepreneurship, and elevated client experiences.
We are not a one-size-fits-all salon. We are a carefully assembled ecosystem of beauty professionals who value autonomy, presentation, and precision. Every service is delivered by an artist building their own brand within a space designed to support it.
Here, individuality is respected. Standards are high. Energy is intentional.

OUR FOUNDER
THANH TRAN
Thanh Tran (pronounced Tan Tran) isn’t just a hairstylist - she’s a visionary builder of space, culture, and confidence. As the founder and creative force behind Roots & Tips, Thanh has shaped Toronto’s beauty landscape for over a decade with intention and edge.
Born to Vietnamese roots and driven by an instinct for bold expression, Thanh built Roots & Tips from a single chair into a downtown destination known for its distinct point of view. With over 21 years behind the chair and thousands of transformations to her name, her work has always extended beyond hair.
Her approach is precise, thoughtful, and unapologetically expressive. Whether crafting a sculpted bob, designing dimensional colour, or mentoring independent artists, Thanh operates with both discipline and vision.
In 2025, she reimagined Roots & Tips as a curated beauty collective: a platform where independent artists in hair, nails, massage, lashes, and brows build their craft within a shared, elevated environment. The evolution reflects her belief that beauty spaces should empower both the professional and the client.
