Founded in 2014, Roots & Tips has spent the last 10 years redefining what a salon experience should feel like. We’re more than scissors and shades—we’re a cultural escape. Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, Roots & Tips was born from a deep desire to create something different — a space where culture, creativity, and confidence collide.
We are more than a salon, we are a beauty hub where every appointment is an experience, and every guest is treated like family. We ditched the sterile, one-size-fits-all salon model. Instead, we built something layered — just like the clients we serve.
Here, your vibe is respected, your beauty is celebrated, and your glow is customized. From neon-lit cuts to luxe scalp rituals, we don’t just style hair—we build legacies from root to tip.
OUR FOUNDER
THANH TRAN
Thanh Tran (pronounced Tan Tran) isn’t just a hairstylist — she’s a walking, talking mood board of heritage, rebellion, and bold expression. As the founder and creative force behind Roots & Tips, Thanh has been styling Toronto’s culture from the inside out for over a decade.
Born to Vietnamese roots and raised with a vision brighter than neon, Thanh built Roots & Tips from a chair and a dream into one of the city’s most unapologetically stylish salons. With 21 years behind the chair and thousands of glow-ups under her belt, she’s created more than a salon — she’s built a sanctuary where identity, beauty, and bold self-expression collide.
Whether she’s crafting a precision bob, layering in a kaleidoscope of colour, or mentoring new talent, Thanh moves with intention and heart. Her clients don’t just get a service — they get a transformation. A vibe. A reminder that confidence starts from root to tip.
In 2025, she reimagined Roots & Tips as a full-fledged beauty concept bar — blending luxury nails, lashes, brows, bubble tea, and bold energy under one violet glow. Think Asia after dark meets Toronto streetwear meets elevated self-care.
